Katie is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, providing therapy services for children and adolescents at Freedom First Psychological Services.
Katie specializes in treating individuals, primarily children and adolescents, with physical and/or intellectual disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Other areas of competency include treating individuals who suffer from depression, anxiety, trauma, stress management, interpersonal, and adjustment issues.
Katie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from the SUNY Oswego.
Katie’s theoretical orientation is eclectic, while at the core, practicing from a humanistic approach. She utilizes techniques that integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavior Modification, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, as well as Solution Focused interventions to help individuals develop positive coping skills and emotional health, as well as increase problem solving abilities.
Katie has gained an array of experience and diverse clinical background by providing individual and family psychotherapy, as well as professional experience as a Residential Behaviorist at the Center for Disability Services, Intensive In-home Therapist with Clinical and Support Options, and as a Clinical Counselor for homeless youth at Safe Inc. of Schenectady.
