MaryRose is a Mental Health Counselor, providing therapy services for children, adolescents, adults, and families at Freedom First Psychological Services. 

 

MaryRose is a graduate from SUNY at Albany with a Masters in Mental Health Counseling. MaryRose has previous experience in various research laboratories, providing peer counseling, and in the AMC Developmental and Behavioral Pediatric Unit. These positions have allowed MaryRose to gain knowledge of adversities within childhood development, various developmental and behavioral disorders, and utilizing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). 

 

MaryRose utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to help her clients enhance their emotion recognition and regulation skills, engage in a growth mindset, enhance self-esteem, and provide psychoeducation through fun and interactive games/activities. She values building a strong rapport with her clients and recognizes how important this is in a therapeutic setting. 

 

MaryRose prioritizes maintaining a safe and comfortable environment while holding unconditional positive regard for her clients. She typically utilizes a collaborative approach with parents/guardians when working with children in order for behavioral strategies and interventions to be reflected in the home as well. Multicultural competency and awareness are other priorities in her practice to ensure equitable and well-rounded treatment tailored to the unique needs of each individual.
