Melissa Paquin, MHC
Melissa Paquin is a Mental Health Counselor, providing therapy services to adults and adolescents at Freedom First Psychological Services.
Melissa earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University. Additionally, Melissa holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. in Psychology from Union College.
Melissa previously interned at both Freedom First Psychological Services and the counseling center at Union College. In these experiences she worked with adults and adolescents with a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, life transitions, ADHD, and grief. Her work is trauma-informed.
Melissa adopts a compassionate, strength-based, thoughtfully integrative approach that is customized to each client’s needs and experiences. She utilizes this tailored and collaborative approach to help clients consider their concerns and strengths from different perspectives and to deepen awareness, increase coping skills, promote wellness, and make meaningful change that aligns with their values and goals. Her eclectic philosophy is grounded in a person-centered approach and incorporates elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic work, and somatic work.
